Melodramos „Likimo galia“ herojus Ivanas Vilagomezas (Davidas Zepeda) iš pirmo žvilgsnio – kuklus, paprastas vyras, tačiau po šia kauke slypi skaudi, dar ankstyvoje jaunystėje patirtų sukrečiančių išgyvenimų kupina istorija. Sulaukęs keturiolikos, Ivanas kartu su mama Alicija atkeliauja į gimtinę, kur gyvena jo tėvas – turtingas rančos savininkas, nepripažįstantis savo sūnaus ir nenorintis apie jį nieko girdėti. Neturėdama kitos išeities, Alicija su sūnumi įsidarbina tarnais turtuolių Kurielių rūmuose.
Ivanas stengiasi kaip išmanydamas – ne tik dirba, bet ir siekia įgyti išsilavinimą. Kai jam sukanka devyniolika, iš užsienio mokyklos grįžta aštuoniolikmetė dvaro šeimininkų dukra Maripaz. Merginos grožio apstulbintas Ivanas pasiduoda jos vėjavaikiškoms vilionėms, o Maripaz netrunka suprasti, jog… laukiasi.
Kilus skandalui, Maripaz motina Lukrecija trokšta žūtbūt susidoroti su Ivanu: vaikinui mėginant apsiginti nuo skriaudikų, šie įtikina Ivaną, kad jis ką tik nužudė vieną iš užpuolikų. Šoko ištiktas herojus sugrįžęs namo randa nužudytą motiną. Suvokdamas esąs bejėgis prieš įtakingą šeimą, vaikinas palieka gimtinę ir iškeliauja į JAV.
Po vienuolika ilgų savanoriškos tremties metų Ivanas grįžta į Meksiką ne tik kurti verslo, bet ir stoti akistaton su savo skaudžia praeitimi, kurią gaubia daugybė paslapčių, melo, neteisybės, o naujiena, jog Ivano sūnus paslaptingai dingo jau pirmąją savo gyvenimo dieną, vyrą tiesiog varo iš proto.
„Likimo galia“ viską sudėlios į savo vietas, tik ar Ivanas įvertins likimo dovanas? Ar duris į jo praeitį atvėrusiai gražuolei Liucijai Lomeli (Sandra Echeverria) pakaks tik draugės statuso? Ar Ivanas suras savo sūnų, kurio net nėra matęs?
